Leuckart reaction

Jump to: navigation, search

The Leuckart reaction is the chemical reaction of ammonium salts of formic acid with aldehydes (or ketones) to form amines by reductive amination.[1]

In addition to ammonia, primary and secondary amines are also successful.[2]

When excess formic acid is used, the reaction is called the Leuckart-Wallach reaction.[3][4]
