Overview

Eosinophiluria is the presence of eosinophils in the urine either in the form of free eosinophils or eosinophils in casts. The use of Hansel's stain for detecting urinary eosinophils has been associated with a higher sensitivity than using Wright's stain.[1] The presence of any degree of eosinophiluria is considered to be pathologic[2] and has been noted in a wide variety of genitourinary diseases including acute interstitial nephritis, atheroembolic renal disease, rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, chronic renal failure, IgA nephropathy, cystitis, prostatitis, pyelonephritis, postinfectious glomerulonephritis, obstructive nephropathy, urinary tract infection, and acute rejection of a renal allograft.[3][4][5][6][7]
